I found a 2001 6cyl automatic with 200k miles on it for 2000$ and fell in love with it! The interior and exterior look in great condition... thing is i dont know about the mileage i think its to much and dont know if i shoud buy it or not!

kbb says that that car is worth 2600 in fair condition. however you gotta think about a few things.... has it ever been wrecked, how hard has it been driven, is 200000 miles to many 0's for you, and do you know how to fix it when it goes? I personally don't like having cars with over 120k on them, im conscidering sell my 04 soon because its at 92k right now.... on a car thats drivin hard it whole life, 200k can have the same effects as 350k light miles. when properly maintained these cars will go forever, these cars are like beautiful women, treat them right and they will treat you right, but neglect them and you will have issues. that being said, its still 200k thats kinda high and even on a well maintained car you will have some normal maintainance and repairs that you can look foreward to, so be prepaired. but its also a low cost, good car to learn on... you can have a small investment that can do you endless amounts of good in the education world. ultimately it's your descision, but these are just a few things to concider

Ask for a service record, Inspect the interior for stains rips etc. Ordinarily an owner that takes good care of a cars interior also does regular mait. such as oil changes and other fluids. The visual appearance of a high mileage car is a window to the things you can not see.

A lot can be said about the previous owner by how well maintained the car is.

If kbb says its worth 2600 in fair condition why is he willing to let it go for so much less?

KBB means nothing at all. Market value and what it's worth to you are what really matter.

Just take a really good look at it. Price doesn't scare me, neither do the miles if it's been well cared for.

I found Kelly Blue Book is 100% useless when shopping on the private market. It's a tool dealers use to determine price, however, on the private market it's 100% useless. Most cars sell for well under KBB value on the private market.

As stated if it looks good and runs good then go for it.

Most 99-04 Mustangs in my area go for $6000. They are at reputable car lots and are in good + condition. Most people will let you take it to a mechanic to get checked out. If they do not I would be skeptical. Will high miles I would recommend a bottle of Blue Devil for head gasket seals. Other than that $2,000 for a Mustang WHAT A DEAL!
