Hello – I have a technical question I would like some advice on:

I currently own a 2013 Mustang V6 Convertible. It came with the standard 17 inch Sparkle Siver-Painted Aluminum wheels, with Michelin all-season P215/65 series tires.

I want to upgrade my wheel/tire combo with the 19 inch Foundry Black-Painted Machined Aluminum wheel (off another 2013 Mustang V6 with the Performance Package). The wheels have P255/40 Eagle tires.

I know I’ll probably have to get the speedo recalibrated. But are these much larger wheels/tires advisable with the stock V6 Convertible’s suspension/braking set-up?
(without the Performance Package’s underpinnings?)

It won't be a problem, people put 20s on these cars without issues.

i found my v6 vert drove like crap with 20 inch wheels..'
too much resonance on the chassis i think.
i would go 18 max on a vert..
in fact 20 inch wheels on the gt coupe kinda ruin the feeling of the car..

I just got a long-awaited call back from a Ford tech advisor, and he said going up to 19s would be no problem. He said the car should handle all the way to 20s. He knew it was a convertible too. So, we'll see. I should have these wheels/tires on in about 2 weeks. I'll report back to this forum and let you know how they feel. Thanks again fellow 'Stangers!

will make the car handle crap 100%
u think your car has shudder now when hitting rough road u wait till u fit big heavy wheels.
if you want to just look cool then ok..but if you want the car to feel as good as a stang vert can be then big heavy wheels are the worst thing u can do.
i am so fussy with everything and i would never do that again
i've just put 20 inchs on my gt coupe and tbh it has slowed it down and kinda ruined the feel of the car.
looks over handling..your choice dude?

look awesome though..total shame really

Just an update: I installed a set of the 19" Foundry Wheels shod with 255/40 Eagles on my 2013 V6 Convertible last week. The car rides great! Handles like it's glued to the road, and looks awesome. No cowl shake whatsoever.

the speedo doesn't need to be re-calibrated when changing tires. even big differences should not change the diameter size by more than one inch.
which means a speedo error of 1/27 = 3.7%. and that's with a big change.
