I used a Jeg's universal oil separator on my car (didn't have $100 to drop on one of the ready made ones) and plumbed it with 3/8" fuel hose.

It works great, but the problem I'm having is that after the car sits for a little while the hoses have a little droplets of oil form along the length of them on all sides of the hose. If you wipe it off with a paper towel it just comes back after the next time you run the car and it sits and cools off. I've never noticed it while the car was running, only after cooling down.

I figured fuel hose would work great for this but apparently not. Do I need a different type of hose? Do the aftermarket separators/catch cans all use that hard plastic hose?

I have never noticed anything like this with my UPR catch can.

apparently, there is "emissions" hose that should be used for this job...

Well I went to advance auto parts...they have "PCV hose" that is all in 32nds so it all appears to be the wrong size...and fuel injection hose which is way expensive.

Maybe I just gotta buy the closest size of the PCV and make it work.

You are probably using some type of heater hose and the oil is going right through it. I had the same problem when I installed a UPR can on my 14 GT. I didn't use the supplied hose because it was half collapsed so I went to the parts store and bought some heater hose not realizing it was not suitable for oil.

I later had to go back and get some PCV/emissions type hose and didn't have anymore problems.

Yeah, sounds like regular "hose" and not oil resistant.
If the hose is soft, it is definitely junk.

Did you put it on the passenger side (with 3/8" hose or driver side)? The driver side uses a larger hose, closer to 5/8". And some 'kits' have the cheaper softer hoses.

Mine would do the same thing using heater hose with a UPR catch can. It wouldn't be oil though because it would wipe away clear, it would be condensation.

I have the UPR can on my '06 GT, the one with the upgraded braid covered hose and the Ford factory type connectors. Definitely worth the extra $ for the upgrade kit. Best can on the market.

Ahh I'm stupid...it is heater hose, I looked at it last night. I forgot which side I was thinking about too, because it's 1/2" on the driver's side.

I'll pick up some of that PCV hose from the parts store and replumb it...

You sure it is tight enough on the fitting and it isn't loose enough for some of it to come out and travel down the hose?
