Default Vinyl stripes over a hood scoop?

I'm looking to get some new stripes on my GT, I also want to add a hood scoop just for the looks. I don't like how un-blended most aftermarket ones look, so I figured that putting the stripes over the scoop would help blend in the seams. Would this work or would trying to apply the stripes over the scoop just makes them crooked or uneven? Anyone with experience with this chime in! thanks guys

You might not be able to just lay the trip over the scoop if that's what your implying. I imagine there would be a gap that would get filled with water and dirt and would bubble up. Also if the stripes are wider than the scoop you would have to cover the sides of the scoop with the stripe too, which would take material away from the part of the stripe on the hood, making it appear thinner. You'd have to apply the stripe to the hood and cut out the area where the scoop will go, then take a separate piece of stripe and wrap the scoop before putting it on the hood.

I like the no stripe look on the hood scoops like chrisbassplayer and I have on our cars. It's a preference thing though. If you like the scoop striped, then by all means do it.

Look at the AM stripes - one looks like it's coming out of the scoop opening forward to the end of the hood.

Thanks for that guys! I think I'll just forget about the scoop, not worth the trouble for the cost and it adds no function

You have stepped up one more rung on the ladder of wisdom.
What year is it? I've recently heard one Forum member say the Cam-Bolts have been updated from 05-09 to stronger units. These would cost as much as your stripe and will hold and force your front wheels to go the same direction If you're lowered, add a Bump Steer kit and these bolts for improved handling. Extra credit - Beef-up the Ball-Joint.

Yeah if you want a scoop that looks good and at least allows airflow you're gonna need a whole aftermarket hood, unfortunately. No other way to make it look "blended".

I don't have any suspension mods as of yet, but thanks for the info! a bumpsteer kit, panhard bar, and lca drop brackets are definately in the mix if I break into my suspension (along with springs, shocks struts, and control arms) I've driven enough lifted Jeeps to konw suspension angle is important!
