Hey i have a 4.0l s-197 vortech supercharged h.o kit and i was thinking what would be better for my next move 8.8 rear end or 3.73 diff gears, what do you guys think?
Worst modding decision I ever made was trying to build a 7.5. All it took was a CAI, tune, and set of drag radials to break supposedly indestructible Richmond gears.
In the end it was actually cheaper to swap to the 8.8 than it was to build the 7.5 with tlok, 3.73's, and LPW girdle.

+1, I have a friend local to me I know personally that put a T-Lok and gears in his 7.5 and had issues with it making noises, etc. Had it rebuilt again, same issue. He has spent with parts and labor close to $750 or so and it still isn't right or as strong as the 8.8 stock.
I agree with the group here, but I upgraded my 7.5 to 3.73's and t-lok. I chose Ford Racing gears and had them installed at Pro Dyno. That was over 40,000 miles ago and she's still holding up fine. And I don't exactly baby the car and have taken it to the track for a few runs. But you might as well go for the 8.8 if you have the opportunity.
