Default MACH 460 SPEAKER ISSUES

95 GT Convertible with aftermarket head unit.

My tweeters work both front & back but the front & rear woofer or mids don't 6x8 front & 5.25 rear.

Checked fuses all or fine.

Has dual amps in back & I disconnected the drivers side with no result (loss of sound) What should I check the amplifier with? I have a multi meter.

If it is the amplifier can I use what I want or is the 460 specific?

Tell me what to check & how or what to get.

here is a link to some pics if needed http://s1174.photobucket.com/user/eg...?sort=3&page=1

Thanks in advance for any help

Toss a decent DVOM on the connectors at the speaker outputs and go from there. You getting any voltage?

NOW... Before I get any deeper, or you get any deeper, do you want a stock functioning system or would an upgrade (gonna cost some money) be better?

If upgrade is the ticket, we'll go from there in the audio forum.

Thanks for the info. Just 1 question---Were do I put the DVOM, I say this because the rear speakers (see my link) look like they are enclosed. So take the speaker out 5.25 round and put the DVOM on the speaker wires? to see if there is power. Sorry just trying to make sure I understand you correctly.

I used the DVOM on the speaker wires & got 7.5 on the dc 200 selection. Oh still no sound in those speakers.

If the stock will work correctly then I wouldn't need to change but if nit then yes I will upgrade the system

Well I still haven't figured out how to see if the amps are working.
I know who ever installed the HU connected a harness so the HU would work.

Here is a link to my pics:http://s1174.photobucket.com/user/eg...?sort=3&page=1

Please help me if you can Thanks

So you have voltage on the rear speakers with a meter to verify and no audible output?

Sounds like speakers with seized coils to me. AKA time for replacements.

Maxwelhse,

I believe so if I connected the DVOM correctly. That could be true (speakers) What's funny is all the tweeters work so I can only assume that 1 amp must work those. I really wanted to know if the amps are working are not. I don't have any spare speakers laying around to test it. (amp) If you look at my pics somebody already put a different head unit in & I'm not sure if they did it correctly or not. Being both my front & rear speakers don't work (5x7 front & 5.25 rear) Thanks for the advice.
