Which speedo gear do I need?
I have a C4 3 speed auto w/manual valve body trans in the car w/3.73 gears right now. I am going down to 3.27 gears. I am running 26" tires. Which speedo gear do I need & where can I get it?

RE: Which speedo gear do I need?
you need to know what drive gear on the output shaft you have
then you can figure it out. probably 6 or 7 tooth, but you have to know....every tooth on the drive gear changes about 3 teeth on the driven gear

RE: Which speedo gear do I need?
I contacted LMR & was told their part# lrs-17271e should work for me, but that gear is listed for an AOD trans (i don't have OD obviously) & nothing for my 26" tires. so i'm not so sure it'd be right for my application

RE: Which speedo gear do I need?
26" tire is close enuff to stock...it won't screw you up at all. no more than 1 mph i'd say
od means nothing.....final drive is what counts (trans gear + rear gear)
anyways....were you specific on c4 trans w/ them ? i didn't look at the part number...but most of companies tell evry 5.0 guy to get 23t driven gears...and thats not the case
if you don't know the app of your tranny....you cannot figure out what you need (unless say every singe c4 ONLY had 6t drive gear on the output shaft) i don't know much about c4's.....aod's have the drive gear macined on the shaft...it is part of the shaft. unsure about c4, t5 has a plastic ring gear c-clipped on the output shaft ez swap if the trans is aprt...but the shifter needs to come out to remove the tailshaft on a t5 car (imo)

lol...thats what i'm saying....sorry to hear that
is the trans in the car ?
pop the tailshaft off and see what it is. or if you actually have all 3....pop them in 1 at a time and drive it to see. not sure what'd be easier
