Default flashing Overdrive light....

So I was driving home from work and my O/D (overdrive indicator light) on the instrument panel starts blinking.... I stop. Go again and my speedometer didn't move until I hit about 30ish. What gives? My tranny seems to be slipping in 1st but I haven't had a chance to take it in yet. i probably won't until Monday. Anybody know what a flashing Overdrive button means????

Thanks in Advance!

Ethan

Have had ford vans at work do this when there is a problem with the tranny,is your check engine light on too.Have somebody scan it for codes, from what you describe a wild guess would be a speed sensor..................Gary

Basically your overdrive light is like a check engine light for your tranny. If its blinking then your transmission is throwing a code.

Haha...good help....!!

It sounds like it's the speed sensor & that is probably why you've been having all kinds of problems with your transmission.

I had something similar happen to another car of mine and I actually had to replace the instrument cluster.

Okay, so it was on a windstar, but the logic is the same. I had that issue when I was in Germany. Everything seemed fine, so I drove it with the flashing light for a looonnnggg time. What was a $100 repair became almost $1200 when I finally got back to the states and had if fixed. Ouchy.

No, I traded it in for my wife's Sport Trac in May.

I hope it's not the one off SR 50 lol... BAD BAD experience with them...

I could recommend the mechanic my dad uses in orlando, but it's at the opposite end of town from where you are. Down on S OBT..

well if the AAmco by you is anything like the one by me I wish you the best of luck. I had a tranny rebuilt in my explorer over 2 years ago and I still have problems with it. I took it back over a half a dozen times and every time it was NEVER fixed right. My blinking o/d light still flashes to this day after about a year later....I finally have to find someone else to fix it and pay again. Good luck with AAMCO....
