trying to fill up my 91 with antifreeze and it seems i have been toping it off for the past couple days.. i checked my haynes manual but that book is probably the most useless service book i have ever bought. so does anybody have a number of how much antifreeze it should take. i have put in probably more then a gallon and a half already. i don't see any leaks but i am used to motorcycles that only takea quartso this seems like alot of antifreeze i am putting in

untill its full haha. take the cap off and run it for a while let watch the coolant go down and then fill it as its running then fill your overflow

Should be closer to 3 1/2 gallons (14qts.) with a stock rad.

Like HACK said, just fill it with the engine running and add coolant until it covers the holes inside the rad. I add a lil to the overflow also up to the cold mark.

^+1... just keep filling, i buy 2 gallons when i flush n fill + h2o and use almost all of it.

how long does the car need to run before the t-stat opens?

Until it hits 195 or whatever the thermostat temperature you have in it.

Let the engine cool. Remove the cap and check the level. Youll know if its full or not.

If the lil holes inside the rad are all covered, its full. Its easy.
