Default Coolant leaking?

I'm having to fill my radiator up with coolant about every 5 to 10 days. I just get a low coolant light. So I top it off and I'm fine. but I have strange symptoms: Like sometimes the Temp gauge fluctuates and will go up to the over heat mark but then come back down.
Now could it be I'm leaking somewhere and I just cant see it? I checked my waterpump weep hole and dont think its leaking. I havent gotten underneath the stang yet with a flash light to really check it thoughrly. If its a heater core leak then where would i check for leakage, under the dash or what. Any pointers would be helpfull.

Place a piece of cardboard under your engine compartment on the ground one night.
Check for spots, that'll atleast give you an idea of the general area of where it could be leaking

If it was the heater core it would be leaking out of the firewall on the passenger side.Mine used to weap coolant from the seam on the side of my radiator. You should be able to find it pretty easy coolant doesn't evaperate.

the heater core can leak from under the dash on the passenger side, but it would be really visible

i also have a coolant leak mine is coming from the heater core. turn your heat on after your engine warms up... if smoke comes out its prolly the heater core. I bought prestone radiator selant. i used one bottle and it really didnt do anything and then i bought a second bottle and voilah.. no more leaks. it runs perfect and no leaks... i love it.. yeah i do. try it

It is probably not a good sign if you don't have any coolant in your overflow!! Check your water pump too, how long has it been since you got a new one of those?

It's the origionall waterpump with over 125,000 miles on it. I checked for puffing whit smoke but didnt see any. The oil is okay, dosent look murky or anything. Needs further investigating but I think its the water pump.
