Trunk Lettering
Anybody know where I can get a template for the trunk MUSTANG lettering on my 68? I found the original letters (with pins on back) in the trunk, along with a set of self adhesive letters. Can't locate the pin holes in the trunk for the lettering (believe it's a new trunk but don't know for sure) so I guess I'll have to use the new ones - would rather use the old ones though. Any ideas?

If you try to drill holes for the barrel nuts for your letters from a template and you are 1/gazillionth of a millimeter off your letters will look like a derailed subway train and you will curse at it forever. The problem with stick-on letters is that after a time they will not stick and you'll be driving a MUS ANG.
One suggestion is to drill slightly larger holes where you have some play with the letters, scrap the barrel nuts, and epoxy the letters (with pins) in after setting them in with a straight edge while they're drying. They will only have to come off when the car is painted. At that time, you might just get an orig deck lid with the correct holes.

My letters (replacements, the originals just weren't shiny enough) were put into the factory holes. They aren't perfectly lined up from the factory either. I'd have to go look but offhand I think my S is noticeably higher than the rest, I'll get a picture tomorrow.

Somewhat overly complicated diagram,
i am very confident in these measurements, but do not let this come back to me if your letters do not line up, please check these measurements before drilling holes or doing anything permanent.
