Intake Manifold Recall
I know this topic has been more than thoroughly discussed. My apologies, my search function is acting up. I just need some simple answers that I cannot seem to find. I have been hearing and reading different things.
Is the recall still in effect to have the intake replaced with the aluminum crossover intake for my 2001 GT? I am sure I have the regular plastic intake manifold on right now, and I would like to have it replaced before it cracks. My question is: Is the dealership gonna screw me over and charge me $1600 bucks or can I still have them replace it for free right now under the recall terms?

yeah you're a bit late...
anyways you can buy the OEM updated manifold for around $180 and you may or may not need new gaskets, and need to get an alternator bracket as well. The swap is simple enough, I have no mechanical experience but I was able to do it with no problems.

The aluminum crossover has holes in different places, so the bracket that came stock won't reattach to the new manifold...there should be a new bracket that comes with the manifold, and it's got a lot of holes in it, more than just four...it attaches correctly for the new setup.
Look in my "Garage", I'll put up a few pictures of the new bracket I put in...I'm pointing in one picture to a protrusion on the new bracket...it's close to the radiator hose, so if yours rubs, put in an old piece of rubber hose to shield the real hose.
