I honestly do not know. The new 3.5L V6 twin turbo engine is actually destined for the new Taurus SHO ($38k). I really think it depends on the release of the 5.0L V8. Ford would not install a more powerful V6 in the base model, without first dropping in a 5.0L V8 into the GT. However, I would not be surprised if the GT keeps the 4.6L for a few more years- with slightly more power.

I have a small update to the list. I was talking with a kind gentleman who was dealing with Ford during the time that G.A.S. (Galpin Auto Sports) was designing the "BOSS" car. He told me that everything I have said was right on with the plans he was also given, EXCEPT for the fact that Ford was actually designing a factory shaker hood scoop system. It is very similar to the one like the SN95 Mach 1, and that's available online for the S197.

Two other options that you will notice on the G.A.S. "BOSS" car, are the pedestal rear spoiler and the quarter window cover. Ford did also discuss these modifications, but I cannot confirm the neither would have been a factory option (window- possible safety issue, spoiler- retooling/dealing with the manufacturer). If anyone would like to know the manufacturers of these parts- please send me a message. I cannot list them here for a number of reasons.

I apologize if I seem a little bit long with this post. I just spent some time with Parnelli Jones today, and had a great time talking with him.

Thanks for listening.

Alright, this will be the last update as I have exhausted all my resources regarding this matter.

Please note, that there was a small change to the graphics package.

The Shadrach Mustang folks http://www.shadrachmustang.com/ have a Boss option with a real Boss Hemi engine.

Nice info, thanks. Hopefully they will decide to return the boss namesake in the near future. It would be a great car to fit between the GT500, and the GT. I'm sure it will be something for them to consider if sales begin to lag, or they need to counter the Dodge/ Chevy competition.

This wouldn't happen to be the one you're talking about, is it?

it appears,FORD, is one of the only auto companies that has NOT asked for a bailout! reading what the OP wrote, makes sense. Ford did not have the gas mileage it wanted, and probably did the best thing by not releasing it. so, our tax dollars go to GM.....
the economy will predict when/where the new motor will arrive, not us!
