How to replace Rear shocks
#6
Hey Guys, i am actually in the middle of the shocks right now. I got the bolts off with a little help from my son, but my question is do i need to remove the the plate under the leaf spring to get the shock out? Or can i somehow remove it without unbolting that plate? Thanks!

Don't unbolt that plate!!
If you're supporting the car via the rear axle and you unbolt that plate then your car will drop on you. Just compress the shock upwards so the bottom stud comes out of the shock mount plate on the axle. It might take some elbow grease, and putting the new ones in if they're stiff might take a LOT of elbow grease.

Thanks guys, i didn't think that needed to come off, like you said some elbow grease and they were out pretty easy. The only thing i am questioning is how the heck do you tighten the top shock bolts? Do i literally need to put the top of the actual shock under the car in a vise grip?
