Question Interior colors options on a 65 coupe

Hi, my mustang is red with 2-tone red/white on the interior. What color is the headliner and visors supposed to be? The visors are missing and there is a black headliner in the car. I would think a white headliner would look awsome! But I want it to be correct.

Thanks!

Every single reference I've seen shows white to be the only stock color for the headliner in a 65. I went with black on mine since the car will be red with mostly black interior when I'm done.

I assume since your saying red & white you have the Pony Interior? If that's the case then the headliner should be white. Not sure about the visors though. My car has the blue & white Pony Interior and my headliner is white and my visors at what I would call light/powder/baby blue.

Thanks! I'll have to study that chart also. I'm thinking I'm gonna go with a white headliner. Not sure on the visors - probably red but I'll see what others have done also. I'm entering my car in a show tomorrow for the first time. I definately don't expect to win anything - it's not near show condition although it looks really great on the outside.

Do you have the "white with red appointments" standard interior, or the "red and white deluxe [pony] interior? You have no interior shot in your gallery.

The former would have a white headliner, the latter would have a red headliner, I think. The red interior would have had a red headliner. 64 models would have white headliner regardless.

Your engine is the wrong color, of course. The entire engine should be gloss black, except the brackets and pulleys, which should be semi-gloss black, and the valve cover and air cleaner, which should both be red. The carb and fuel pump, and linkage should not be painted.

Here is a link to my car. There are a couple of pictures of the interior. I think you can make out the visors in a couple of them.
