Cheapest/easiest way to 400 hp on an '01 Cobra
Just thought I would ask.
Being a new Cobra owner I have already looked at almost every imaginable upgrade for my car, and I kinda know what I would want to do--I guess.
I keep changing my mind.
But anyway, yeah, 400 hp.
W/o nitrous or forced induction.
What would you do, America?

W/O N2O or FI, be prepaired to open up that pocket book a little. Basically full exhaust, intake, ported/polished plenum, larger tb, cams, and ported heads is what you'll need to get there. I'm still learning the 4.6L, but approx 120 rwhp isn't cheap or easy to come by, and 4V Cobra parts are EXPENSIVE!!! I could build 2 5.0s for what it cost to build one 4V, prices are obsurd sometimes.

400 bhp would be slightly easier, but like I said, without F/I you're not going anywhere easily or cheaply. A supercharger would be the easiest way, but then again you run into the problem of the 99/01s not having forged pistons or rings, so you'd be on borrowed if you run any modest amount of boost (larger than 8 psi).

400whp N/A doesn't happen on the stock 281 without cobra R/ Fr-500 intake/heads, those alone will cost more than a blower set-up, don't run from forced induction.
not to mentions cams set you back another $1200, valve springs ~380, trust me, i looked into it, its NOT worth it.

I love forced induction, I was just wondering what I could do before it.
I was thinking the Comp stage two cams, they are pricey, but they will also help when the s/c goes on.
How much will the average intake/pulley/exhaust/tune bump up hp too?
