Default Where is Ignition Control Module for 97(3.8)?

I bet no one can figure this one out. 3 mechanics and one Ford dealer later, no one, and I mean no one after hours of searching, can find the ICM on my 1997 stang(3.8). Checked Chilton and Haynes, checked Alldata, checked everything. Autozone(where I bought the part) says it's in the interior passenger's wheel well near the strut tower, but I've only found another module there. Help(!), I've got to change the thing; when it gets hot the car stalls - even on the highway, so it's a dangerous situation.

I posted in the V6 section but heres some more. I Know there is a CPS which is a camshaft positioning sensor and there is also a CKP crankshaft positioning sensor. Other than that I would need some pics to tell you for sure. I just pulled my brothers engine out of his 98 V6 so maybe a picture of the part will jar my memory and I'll remember where it goes. But I dont remember the name off the top of my head.

The engine was replaced in 2003 or so; could it be that it was replaced with a different 3.8 style that doesn't even use an ICM??

OK, maybe the ICM doesn't exist even though Autozone sold me specifically a 1997 ICM. I'm generally thinking the 97 doesnt have one and they mistakenly have the older year's ICM in there computer for that year.

The problem is when my engine gets up to temp, it cuts out, it cuts at idle too, it's very hot here in Vegas(110f+!).
One mech said it might be the fuel pump. What should I check, or have replaced?

Gotta say Pip, yer da man with Stangs. Thanks for the info. I love the car, and when a mechanic told me the transmissions were (unheardof for Ford) bulletproof, I got my 97 used a year ago and still love every part of it. I recommend the 97 stang(first year the head gasket problem was fixed).
