Default welding your torque boxes?

is it common for the torque boxes to start coming loose? And you can just weld them back right?

Its the parts that hold your lca's and uca's to the unibody. The best way to fix this is to get these:

Im pretty sure someone is selling a kit at corral for $80.

The factory torque boxes are attached to the car by spot welds. What happens is after a lot of abuse like launching on sticky tires at the track, they have a tendency to crack and eventually rip off the frame. When that happens, you are likely going to have to deal with extensive chassis fabrication to get them back on and more importantly, aligned right so the rear axle is located properly. Fox body torque boxes seem to be more prone to damage than ours...but if you frequent the track, they will eventually get damaged. You definitely want to reinforce them wayyy before they rip off and most preferably before it even begins to crack. My lower drivers side box has a small tear developing...but I think what caused it is the extremely violent wheel hop I've been having for the past few months.

I had mine spot welded a few years ago
Slicks will definitely cause them to rip on hard launches
Tbirdscwd has done the plates recently

Here's a pic of that small crack in mine. The lowers all seem to start cracking from the same place for everyone. Mine is just a tiny tear, but it's enough to tell me I better get them reinforced the next time I take my ****box to the strip.

Also, here is a pretty good pictorial how-to on installing the upper and lower kits:
