the best to use is a 1986-93 t5 and a lot of people prefer the 94-95 because it is 1 inch longer the shifter fits better thru the floor....

the truck tranny is not the same afaik even if dimensionally it is i doubt it is a world class t5

This is a posting from another Forum, sorry Admin Cant find the original site.

Get the tag numbers off the tranny and use the chart
http://www.moddedmustangs.com/forums...-t5-specs.html my tag reads 13-52-169 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 169 is shown as an 86.5 - 89 WC T5, if i recall correctly it was pulled from an 89.

350 is kind of steep for an 87 unless you are sure its going to work flawless and none of the internals are worn. (its not going to jump out of reverse or be a pain to shift into first) its going to only have the 265 ftlbs tq rating.

Find out the history on this thing the best you can...does it have over 50k miles on it?

I payed 300 for a wc 1993 cobra spec t5 that needed a rebuild but all said and done now I have a rebuilt 1993 cobra spec rated at 310 ftlbs tq. Rebuilding an 87 t5 (assuming it needed the same thing: 1st gear 2nd gear, 1&2&reverse slider+ master rebuild kit) yields you a vanilla t5 and smaller "worth it" margins.

Good luck

i wouldnt buy it says it for the 4 cly, which that doesnt make a difference all that much, but the input shaft would need to be changed with one from a v8. Other wise you have to switch the input bearing and i dont think anyone knows what year or car you have to get the pilot out of. Shop around they can be had for cheap i picked mine up for $150 with 1k miles on rebuild with bell housing, and fork.
