Default 3.73's or 4.10's

I have a 2007 mustang gt/cs. I have put on a steeda cold air intake, tuner, and i was wondering what gears to get. I drive it at least 3 times a week, unless there is bad weather. I also have 20 inch wheels. So the question is 3.73's or 4.10's?

Why stop there? Why not 4.30? 4.56? 4.88? Hell, popular opinion is all that matters...

What do you have now? If you have 3.55's you will hardly notice the difference with 3.73's.

how much of your driving is highway and how much is in town? Does gas mileage matter? If the answer to the latter question is no, get 4.10s. They will go well with cams if you ever decide to get them. They help to get a centrifugal supercharger into boost as well. First gear becomes almost useless though, fyi. A set of NT555 tires in the back, some 4.10 gears, and a little practice got me from a 5.5 second 0-60 to a 4.8.

Just like Roush05 said if MPGs don't matter or you don't spend a ton of time on the highway then 4.10s are good. Either way you will get better performance over the 3.31s.

It's your choice...search and read people's experiences.
I went from 3.31 to 4.10 after driving a friend's car that had 3.73 gears. MPG improved in town and on the hwy. I just stay in 5th above 25 mph. The car is a lot more fun, I personally do not regret it. RPMs are in the same range as a 4 cyl car...3000 or so @ 70...no big deal, how obnoxious that is to you depends on your exhaust.
Traffic? Start in 2 and shift into 5, that's it.

Hope that helps.

Drag Strip Car............... 4.10s
DD or Weekend Fun Car.. 3.73s

I love my 3.55s, but wish I had gotten 3.73s (not an option in 2008). My car is my DD and I do take it on long trips. I guess I don't get why someone would get 4.10s and then not use 1st gear in a daily driver. I can see if you visit the drag strip a lot - it would get you out of the hole quicker - but my first gear disappears pretty quick with my mods below with 3.55s...

I sweated and sweated this call myself and finally went 3.73 from 3.31 with my a/t. MUCH better, haven't regreated it at all. It was alittle jumpy at first with the stock wheels/tires but when I put on my summer tires and the effective final gear went to 3.5?ish, I was sold on the combo.
The 4.10 will get me redlight to redlight if the 4.10's have enough grip, but pull up beside V going 50mph with those 4.10's and you will meet your maker...well if you don't have 400hp anyways
It's all about personal preference as stated before, and really no bad choice can be made...for the street I would say 3.73, if you plan to head to the track, 4.10's.
