Very interesting. My hope is that if they are using the current chassis, maybe just maybe, we can retrofit it in place of our standard axles. I just hope it isn't a POS like the Camaros IRS. Put a shorter gear in there other than stock and it shreads the pinion because the diameter is too small for the power handling.

Hopefully Ford engineers an 8.8" (or 9") pumpkin and just get a couple good dogbones. This would keep the gears and other parts at proven levels only leaving the dogbones as a potential weak point.

Think of the market for it SVT!

Maybe they can get rid of the 2 piece driveline too.

Glad to see they are finally deciding to ditch the solid axle. I'm sure the IRS will be fine, afterall, cars offered by Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Porsche, Koenigsegg, Chevy ALL have more power than the Mustang and run IRS with zero issues. It's 2012 - time to get with modern times. Leave the solid axle for the School Bus.

Ahh, good to see that they are bringing back the IRS, I hope this time that they put a lot of thought into it and make it as good as possible from the factory and keep those bean counters away from it.
