Default 1st and 2nd gear rattle

Well, Hi, new hear. Isn't it great to join a new forum by making a post about a problem? Sigh.... Anyway, I just bought a 98 GT recently --well, a week ago actually-- and I noticed recently that sometimes in 1st and second gear that there is a rattle noise (quite audible if I may add). In first, it happens as I am removing the clutch, and in second once I remove the clutch and press the gas. Anyone have any thoughts on what it may be? I've already used the search tool and haven't found much of anything.

Any idea where the sound is coming from? Kinda vague in your description.

Sounds like it's coming from the tranny.

And I'm also getting a badddddddd whine coming from the rear end of the car. If anyone has ever rented a ford uhaul (I work for uhaul) it has the same loud whining noise that just gets more audible with speed. I don't really know how to explain it. Wheel bearings maybe? I have no idea...

the rear whine might be the diff. does it do it when accelerating or when coasting? you might want to check for any lose heat shields for that rattle. have you inspected under the car?

It's much louder on acceleration. Although, you can still hear it when decelerating. Between Shifts it has a slight whine, though, it isn't that loud.

Hmmmmm...... Try and figure out from which side its coming from. You can also lift up the rear tires and check for play and see if the tires rotate smoothly.
