I am looking to flush out my really old brake fluid to some ATE Super Blue and want to know whats the proper procedure to do this? Is there anything I need to know about the ABS?

From everything I have read most people use a turkey baster to remove most of the fluid out of the master cylinder then just bleed the brakes. What bleeder kit works the best but doesnt wipe out the credit card?

The Motive kit seems to be liked by a lot of folks. It will cost me $75 landed to Maui. Is that worth it or should I buy one of the cheaper kits?

Or rig up the GF's fancy vacuum and set it to suck and hope for the best? And get yelled at later. LOL

You really don't need a bleeder. It makes things go by faster, but if you want to save some money, just take the cap off and put a pint of brake fluid upside down on the reservoir. Then open the bleeder screw on each caliper and let them gravity bleed. Once the reservoir is low enough that you can take the pint out, put another one on, or just top it off and let it run through a little more. If you are gonna use that method, I recommend using 2 pints for flushing and a third to top off. Remember, DO NOT LET THE MASTER CYLINDER RUN DRY.

js, thanks for the link. That is some good info. I have bled the brakes before with just a cheapy napa speed bleeder kit and pumping the pedal, but this time flushing the entire system I am gonna spring for the Motive kit.

What about stainless steel braided lines? Do most of you guys just do the front or do you replace both? I was thinking about the J&M ones from AM unless there is a better option.

Personally, I would do both ends of the car.

Id recommend front and back for the stainless steal lines. I did it b/c well if u do the fronts why not the rears. Easy to do

Your are correct sir........I ordered TPS Motorsports stainless lines front and back, ATE super blue fluid and a motive 0118 bleeder kit. I'm looking forward to this upgrade. Woohoo!
