Talking 1996 GT Manual Trans

How do I find out what transmission filter to use for my car? (1996 Mustang GT- Manual Trans). I just came back from the auto store and I purchased one that says Automatic transmission. I asked the sales person if that were okay even though I have a Manual Trans, they said it shouldn't be an issue. Does that sound right? I also purchased Trans Fluid and it said they all said Automatic trans fluid. Again, I asked if this was fine. I was told yes. Would this be an Issue?

There is no filter on a manual and yes, the manual uses automatic transmission fluid.

Thank you for the input. Much appreciated!! I was told mixing two types of tranny fluid could mess up my Trans.

This is my first Mustang and believe me I have been reading/ watching tutorials a lot. Just never cames across a vid where they specify if it uses a filter for a manual tranny or if it only uses manual or automatic fluid. But thank you for your input as well....

No problem. Most Mercon auto transmission fluids blend together fine. In a manual, there really isn't much inside that you can hurt, just the syncro rings and it takes a lot to damage them.
