Intake Manifold typhoon ?
i have a 99 gt with all bolt ons and was thinking about doing the intake manifold from trick flow next but I heard that it really only gives you any gains of HP if you have work done to your heads. is that true or will I gain anything from the manifold off stock heads? thanks!

You wont gain anything noticeable from either intake but least of all the typhoon. I'm surprised they still sell it.
The only intake worth it's weight is the Edlebrock but that more or less adjusts the curve and you'll need to Rev higher on a stock motor. And it's best if paired with a steep gear. 4.10's or better and ideally a good cam. Do you have Longtubes?
With the eldlebrock, you'll also need to buy the Edlebrock rails and valve. So there's extra cost there. If you're slowly building a project, it's worth it.

I have the typhoon intake from pro-products and gained power from it. I dyno'd the car after installing the manifold, a 75mm T-body, and an off-road pipe. I gained 20 RWHP. I'm going to give a little of that to the TB, O/R pipe, and a better tune but the manifold didn't hurt and my top end power curve definitely improved.
Bear in mind I ported the manifold and I have lots of supporting mods (heads and cams etc), but for the price it's a quality piece. I had some minor fitment issues with the coolant crossover in the valley but otherwise I am super happy with it. Just take your time and port it properly.
The edelbrock is great for F/I but with such short runners if you're N/A you will lose a lot down low. And without a built bottom end you won't rev high enough to take advantage of them.

yeah I have bbk long tubes and I plan on head and cam down the road but figured I buy the intake manifold now if I could benefit from it but if that's the case to where I wont see anything really then ill prolly jus plan to get it done after head and cam and stevo 86 I can see you getting hp from I cause you have head work but mines just stock heads. And it is my daily driver for right now but my main goal is jus to have a nice fast street car that's about it.

I just bought the eddy vic jr intake, 6061 plenum and MMR fuel rails. Cost me close to 900 bucks. You can get it for a little less if you go with the edelbrock intake elbow, edelbrock fuel rails (plus the eddy vic jr manifold). Should be right at around 700 bucks.

I run the typhoon intake on my car. But, i did not buy it for advertize hp/torque gain. I brought mines as a stock replacement . The stock intake is very good as far as performance goes. But , this is the ( 3 ) times ,my stock intake had to be replaced, since i purchase my car in 02.I have read numerous threads about why not to buy it. But so,far after 6 months. I have no issues with it. The Edelbrock is a good intake. But you have to buy more parts to work on your car. I now use my car as a DD. So, every part that i now add, i am not looking to increase the HP/Torque.Just reliability. You can, get the Typhoon for a lot less than $700.00 new now.My total cost was equal to the new stock Ford PI intake. My car has some bolt on.I have notice some power different at 1500 and above. Best mods for performance is gears, and tune. Just my opinion. Good luck with your choice.

It is up 2 u to decide what you want your car 2 b. Gas mileage has never been a issue with me. Gears with normally decrease your gas mileage , and put more wear and tear on your car. But i am sure u can find a happy medium for yourself. I use 3.55 gears, and don't really notice a different anymore.I have the Typoon intake, not the Edelbrock. and yes i have notice a different IMO with it. Car pulls a lot hard at 1500 RPM and above.
