I've seen engines shut down due to owner malfunction and they never started back-up again.

Buy a new engine because yours is trashed. Maybe better yet, buy a bicycle because you don't deserve to own a vehicle.
you would be surprised. once i was getting an alignment done and this woman walks in and says her car is making a funny noise. mechanic goes out and sits in it and listens to it. comes back in and looks up her info. "ma'am, when was the last time you had an oil change?" "the last time I came in here" "ma'am that was around a year ago. that is probably the problem with your engine". i chuckled

Toastin in a roll bread...

Nice try OP

But hey you guys would be surprised.. by old roommate had a v6 mustang and after his dad got angry at him for it being almost out of oil and coolant (they took it to dealer to get changed and checked), roommate said he didnt know how to check either because his dad never taught him.

I worked on cars for about 4 years and I was like, even my little sister knows how to check.

So you had to add roughly 5.3 quarts, meaning it had <1 quart in it....

Good luck.

hahaha this is like my girlfriends parents. 2010 honda with like 20k miles on it. it has had one oil change EVER, and that was after break in. They don't want to pay for an oil change, I offer to do one, they say no they just want me to turn off the oil change light!

Let me ask a question that we should know but I bet don't (no reading the owner's manual now). Do we not have a low oil warning light, either dedicated or rolled into a CEL, that comes on around 2qts low? My '86 GT had one, thanks to the x-wife I saw it more than once, so I'm pretty sure we must too. For some reason I've never seen it come on...hmm, wonder why that is;-)
