Got a qoute for labor cost for torque converter install
Looking for the next mod, a torque converter. I made a call and the shop estimated 5 labor hours for the install which turns out to be $450 including fluids and filter. This is in s.cali.
So im "okay" w/ that, unless i can get it cheaper elsewhere.
my problem is which converter to get. (lock up type for sure).
Any trusted name brand? i looked on summit and latemodel mustang and pricing are a bit high ($500-800). Of course ebay is like 300-400.
then its the stall speed, any one w/ stall speed experience?
Daily Driver here. (mods are in my sign). Right now im thinking of 2800-3200 stalls.
Can't make a decision!!!!
Im on regular tires (245/45/17)

oh yeah, here's what im afraid off too:
"The most important factor is cruise rpm. If you daily drive on the freeway, what is your cruise rpm? If less than 2800, you'll be hating life.
If you don't get out on the freeway much, what rpm do you cruise at? Again, anything less than your stall and you will have a concern.
In the extreme case, a high stall will lead to premature trans failure when driven on the street due to heat. If you drive around town below stall point, you are creating lots and lots of waste heat that is killing over time. Coolers help, but the right way is to avoid cruising below stall rpm."
My cruise is higher than normal due to the 4.10gears (3200 rpm and already have a tranny cooler).
