Okay. Ive scoured the internets, and there is no solid answer...

The heater hose that goes from the intake manifold to the inlet of the heater core has a restrictor.

Ive looked everywhere, called ford- read through my haynes manual and there is NO definitive answer anywhere...

Some people say it should be on the intake manifold side, some people say it should be in the firewall side.

Some people say it should go big hole to small hole with water flow like this...

imagine the squiggly lines is the water flow and the direction is the arrow, and the thing in between it is the restrictor(imagine it is inside the hose..)

When the hose was replaced the first time, im not sure if it was replaced correctly- so when i replaced the hose there was no telling if it was returned to the correct place.

please, any information would be great.

It really doesn't have a set location. It is simply somting ford added to later years of the sn95 cars the 94-95 cars don't have one.

For give my forgetfulness as I answer a lot of members here , but are you the one that was blowing hoses off the intake?

I would put it in the intake side as close to the intake as possible and clamp it in there then use a double clamp at the intake to hold the hose on good this will prevent you form shredding another hose.

I have read a few other forums about this issue of that hose popping off and there solution was to locate that restrictor to the intake side of the heater core inlet tube.

Yep. Thats me. Im just at wits end trying to think of a solution..

Ive been scouring the internet, and well i willing to try anything.

Looks like im going to get a new hose tomorrow because it seems like all the pressure would have beat the hose half to death, and ill relocate the restrictor tomorrow and clamp it in place, we will see what happens...

Still hoping for a few more responses and opinions on the matter though...





so obviously the larger hole would be the direction you would want the water to flow into, and the smaller hole the water to flow out of?

That sir I couldn't tell you with out looking at the part.

You get some pics of it on both ends up on here and Ill give you a better analyses lol .

I would say that if the hole tapers to a smaller hole then you would want the biggest end to go away from the intake so you don't create a nozzle effect.

Also make sure that restrictor is defiantly on the hose that feeds the heater core other wise it will create a restriction and defeat the whole purpose of the part.
