I have a 95 GT 5 speed. My Clutch went out the other day. I tore it apart today and when I drained the the fluid out it was Gear oil, I called The Dealer and they said it should be ATF fluid. My Question is, is there a reason the person that owned the car before me would've put Gear Oil in there instead of ATF fluid? Should I just Replace it with Gear Oil or should I get the Fluid Completly out and refill with ATF?

I always used synthetic ATF in my T-5s.

Thats what the deal said should of been in it. I was just wondering if there would be a reason to put Gear Oil in it? Or should i not Worry about it and flush the gear oil out and refill with ATF??

people will put gear oil in the T5's when they start having a little wear in them. i purchased one in 1999 and the T5 had some slop in it and a mechanic told me to try gear oil. i did and it ran great three more years. i replaced it with a new one and it came with ATF.
