Default Anybody ever change rod bearing with the engine in the car

Looks like i may have hammered her a little bit to hard, got a ticking in number six cylinder, goes away if i pull the plug wire, starts ticking around 2K RPM and higher. I thinking its a rod bearing

I figure i will drop the pan and pull the rod cap and measure the crank just for the fun of it. Searched the forum but couldn't find anything on this subject

Anybody ever successfully accomplish this?

No reason why you can't if the crank isn't torn up. Hardest part will be to R&R the oil pan. Much more difficult if it's one of the rods above the K member.

Did you check all the rod bearings? May as well as long as you have the engine out. I'd pull the main caps and have a look there too. Will have to replace the bolts, though.

I did replace all eight, i was going to pull the mains but decided not to based on i plan on pulling the motor and trans in the fall and do a complete rebuild. i just want to drive it for the summer so i thought i would take the chance. i have other pics if anyone is interested i did plastagage all the rod journals and all were within spec. FYI i got the connecting rod bolts from FORD $2.50 ea. which i though wasn't too bad
