What vehicles came with the 351W?
Over the past couple of days, I've been looking up information on a 351W swap. Things are looking pretty good, but I'm just curious what vehicles, other than a mustang, that came with a 351W engine from the factory? I'd like to find a block in good shape in a salvage yard.

I had a 1966 black coupe that I installed a 351W in it. This car was a ball to drive, the parts are reasonable priced and easy to find for this engine. My 351C gets pricey & Hard to find. Have fun you will really like this combo if your not worried about keeping it stock.

Well, I've said this over in the OT section, but my 289 block is rusting from the inside out
I'm thinking a 351W with a T-5 backing it up, or a Richmond Gear 6-spd...I'm not worried about keeping it stock
I can't decide on the transmission, because I don't know much about the gear ratios in the transmission. During the summer, I am on the highway a lot, and also going to and from school.
Any suggestions on which one, and why would be appreciated, just PM me so I don't hi-jack my own thread!

I am curious about the 351 swap too - what all it entails and so on - I have heard (maybe incorrectly) that it is a squeeze and getting to plugs and things is a bear. But I can imagine a little Pony with 351 cubes would move really well. When (and if) my 289 ever goes south, I will have to debate between a new 302 shortblock or a 351. Just don't want to go the 351 route if it makes it hell to work on under the hood. Is it a tight squeeze?

It's still a small block, but the heads are bigger and the width gets wider. Plugs are harder to get to, but I didn't have a big problem. I liked having the 351W lots of parts and cost not to bad. Look for someone in your area with a 351W in their Ride, and go visit them. Look at the engine compartment it's a little tight, but I think it's worth the extra power with out doing a bunch of engine mods. A set of headers, intake manifold, carb, mild cam and your good to go with a pretty quick car. If you are looking to keep original you don't want to do this !!! You will be judged as Modified at any show enter it in. Myself I like a fast car, and this a cost effective way to go fast. I know their are alot of people who would build a small block 289 or a 302, this is great way to go too. I like to be different and fill the hole between the fenders LOL
